Some of the applications for various types of biodegradable plastics are as follows-

1)  Polyhydoxyalkanoates (PHA’s)

Biodegradable plant pots, disposable cups, disposable compost containers and bags, packaging and agricultural mulching films.

2)  Polylactic Acid (PLA)

Medical applications like controlled drug delivery, resorbable screws, sutures, stents, dialysis and pins, packaging applications like trays, biodegradable and compostable cups, bottle, films, Compact discs.

3)  Polycaprolactone (PCL)

Controlled release of drugs, suture or adhesion barrier, dental applications, soft compostable packaging, food-contact foam trays, loose fill and film bags.

4)  Polybutylene Succinate (PBS) and Polybutylene Succinate Adipate (PBSA)

These polymers are commercialized under the trade names Bionolle. Mulch films, packaging films, bags and flushable hygiene products.

5)  It is considered to be aromatic copolyester of butanediol, adipic acid, and dimethyl terephthalate that is commercialized under the trade name Ecoflex. It is used in films for packaging and agriculture, food containers and cups.
